Implementing organisational change using action research in two Australian organisations
This paper is based on two organisational change projects implemented by the authors in their respective organisations. Both projects used an action research intervention to bring about a market orientation in the organisations and also contributed to the authors’ academic research. One project was carried out in a small intermediary in the general insurance industry. The other was set in a large national government business enterprise. The paper first introduces the concepts of market orientation, organisational culture and action research in management research. It then describes the two research projects. Finally, it concludes with the researchers’ reflections on their research.
